KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on W. Martin Mill Pike on Monday, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD’s Scott Erland said officers responded to the crash near Chapman Highway around 5:45 p.m. Erland said the driver, a male, crashed into a telephone pole.

At this point, investigators believe he left the roadway and hit the pole for an unknown reason, Erland said.

The investigation into the accident continues.
