West Virginia Head football coach Neal Brown announced Monday afternoon that senior defensive lineman Edward Vesterinen will not return this season and will take a medical redshirt. He will return for his final year of eligibility in 2025.

The Finland native emerged as one of the most productive pieces up front for the Mountaineers last season, recording 28 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Before his injury in the UAlbany game, Vesterinen had two tackles and a half tackle for loss.

It was quite a pleasant surprise when Troy signed TJ Jackson instead, and he has become one of the best players in the entire country at rushing the quarterback. He collected 4.5 sacks and ranked fifth nationally with nine tackles for loss.
