GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – A man who was shot Saturday night in Goldsboro has died, police said.

Goldsboro police say they learned from ECU Health in Greenville that 26-year-old Daquan Simms died at the hospital Sunday.

Police said Simms was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of Newsome Street.

He was taken to UNC Health before being flown to ECU Health.

Police say the incident is currently being investigated as a homicide.
