Police report reveals what led to shooting in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Documents obtained by WMBF News show what happened before a shooting in Myrtle Beach that led to the arrest of two men.

Myrtle Beach police responded to Freedom Lane between October 18-95 in reference to the assault.

Officers spoke with witnesses who said their Myrtle Beach homeowner, David Galfetti, 60, pulled into the driveway and began “yelling about increasing the rent for their apartment.” Police say Galfett was very drunk and admitted he was drunk at the scene.

When Kevin Smith, 55, of Myrtle Beach, walked outside, Galfetti began yelling at Smith and attacked him in the face, according to a police report obtained by WMBF News on Monday.

The report states that Galfetti grabbed Smith by the throat, slammed him to the ground, and told Smith he had a gun in his pocket.

Witnesses pulled Galfetti off of Smith, and Galfetti got back into his car to drive away. Smith then entered his apartment and came out with a gun and opened fire on Galfetti’s car, according to the report.

After investigating, police arrested Smith and Galfetti.
