VSP investigates fatal crash that killed 16-year-old in Amherst County

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that killed a teenager in Amherst County.

The fatal crash occurred on Possum Island Road at around 1:45 pm on Saturday, October 26.

A 2024 Kia ​​Forte was traveling southbound on Possum Island Road near the Millennium Road intersection. The car, in which the driver lost control of the steering wheel, went out of control on the right side of the road, hit a mailbox and a lamppost and overturned.

One dead in motorcycle crash in Pittsylvania County

A 16-year-old male passenger jumped from the plane and died at the scene. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

The driver, Lucas S. Fretwell, 34, of Madison Heights, Virginia, suffered minor injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. Charges are pending.

The investigation into the accident continues.
