BEIJING – In the statement made by the police, it was stated that five people, three of whom were children, were injured in the knife attack that took place in Beijing, the capital of China, on October 28.

Police said the stabbing occurred at around 3.20pm at the intersection of Wanquanzhuang Road and Wanliu Zhong Road in Beijing’s Haidian district.

The 50-year-old suspect, surnamed Tang, was arrested.

Five of the injured were taken to hospital. Police stated that none of the injured were in life-threatening condition, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

The attack site is where one of the branches of Zhongguancun No.3 Primary School is located, Reuters and various Chinese media outlets reported.

Social media posts on Weibo stated that the stabbing took place outside the school gates, but this was not confirmed by police.
