Meanwhile, I caught up with Sharon and Kelly at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Two tell me they support Donald Trump because they “love America” and are concerned about issues like immigration, public safety and the economy.

“We could afford anything under Trump. I feel like everything is out of reach now,” says Kelly. “For me personally, I make more money now but have less money to spend.”

With that in mind, the duo woke up this morning with a mission: attend Trump’s first rally.

The women gathered from their homes in New Jersey at 10 a.m. local time (14:00 GMT), but when they saw the crowds, they were sure they wouldn’t be able to get in.

“We were nervous going in,” says Sharon. “But we were out there, singing and chanting, arm in arm with other people from all walks of life. Trump is bringing people together in New York, and what better place than that? “This is the greatest melting pot there is.”

Luckily, a Trump volunteer spotted the two friends and offered them an upgrade: a seat directly behind the former president.
