‘Star Trek’ Writer and Producer Jeri Taylor Dies at 86

Jeri Taylor, writer and producer of many “Star Trek” shows, died on Thursday, October 24, at the age of 86. StarTrek.com free news of his death.

Taylor was known to fans for writing the “Star Trek: Next Generation” episode “The Drumhead.” He also served as co-producer in the 4th, 5th and 6th seasons of the series, and as showrunner and executive producer in its final season.

Taylor also joined “Star Trek: Voyager” as showrunner and served as head of the writers room for four seasons.

Taylor surprised fans when she attended the Mission Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas in 2021, as she has been retired from such shows for years. HE I told the fans “Voyager” co-creators Rick Berman and Michael Piller “didn’t need me” on the show.

“They knew what they were doing, they could handle it on their own. Taylor added that she always identified with Captain Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew. “I always thought Janeway was just mine, I wrote to her,” he said. “I can’t say I wrote it as myself, but I wrote it as I wanted to be. I felt filled with it.

Jeri Taylor was born on June 30, 1938 in Evansville, Indiana. In addition to his work in the “Star Trek” universe, he wrote the screenplays for “Little House on the Prairie” and “The Incredible Hulk” and also worked as a producer and director on “Quincy, ME” and “Jake and the Fatman.” .”
