Worcester student unveils defibrillator in memory of friend

The Oliver King Foundation was established in 2012 in memory of Mr. King’s 12-year-old son.

He had a heart attack while participating in a swimming race in a place where there was no defibrillator.

He died of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, a hidden heart condition.

Miss Shadbolt, from Worcester, has already raised more than £900 in the hope of getting a defibrillator at the site where her friend died.

“Losing my friend in a fatal car accident helped me raise awareness about public access to defibrillators.”

He added: “I want to educate people on CPR and how to use these life-saving devices.

“I want to raise general awareness about how important defibrillators are and how important early interventions are, especially in heart attacks, while also educating the public on this important issue.”
