Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for the reignition of the Bawku conflict.

In his post on social media, he stated that the actions and inactions of the current government played a contributing role in exacerbating the conflict.

The Bawku conflict in Ghana is a long-running conflict between the Kusasis and Mamprusis, two major ethnic groups in the north-east of the country, over land tenure rights and chiefdom.

Despite efforts by the warring parties to end the protracted conflict, there is no end in sight as attacks continue.

However, in a post shared via social media, Suleman Braimah blamed the current government for the re-explosion, saying, “The actions and inactions of the NPP government eventually led to the re-explosion of the Bawku Conflict.”
