Jonathan James, 31, is in police custody for allegedly stabbing his 65-year-old aunt Ramatu Musa to death in Gombe State.

The incident was reported to have occurred in the early hours of October 21, 2024, in Gombe’s Bagadaza District.

According to a statement by Gombe State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Bukhari Abdullahi, a distress call was received at 2.15am which led to a quick response from the Pantami Division patrol team led by ASP Girema Yahaya.

“Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital in Gombe,” Abdullahi said.

Abdullahi also confirmed that police arrested Jonathan James at the scene and recovered the gun used in the crime.

Authorities have not yet determined the reason behind the attack but have assured the public that the investigation will continue urgently.

“The police are taking this case very seriously and the suspect will soon face charges in court,” Abdullahi said, adding that justice would be sought for the tragic incident.
