Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti attributed the 4-0 score to Barcelona because his players failed to capitalize on their chances.

Ancelotti also claimed that the Catalans lost their energy after the goal they scored.

Madrid dominated the opening exchanges of Saturday’s El Clasico but failed to find the back of the net.

Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in 10 minutes of the second half.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha also scored as Barça opened up a six-point lead at the top of LaLiga.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said: “We missed many opportunities, we lost our energy when we scored.

“We are hurt, yes… difficult times. “But we will not give up, the season is long,” he said.

He added: “I liked the team in the first half. We’re sorry.

“I have to thank the fans because they helped us throughout the 90 minutes.

“We don’t have to throw everything away because there is nothing to throw away. “We fought very well for 60 minutes, but we had 30 minutes to forget.”
