The couple invited about 50 guests to their celebration, and Ava used the opportunity to continue a long-standing childhood tradition: having her friends stay the night for a sleepover. Richie has a special bond with his daughter. “Ava is killing it,” the Bon Jovi guitarist, who left the band in 2013 to raise Ava, told PEOPLE in November.

Noting that Ava recently received her master’s degree and is “getting ready to go to the doctorate,” the rocker added, “She’s basically into psychology.”

The musician also told PEOPLE that he was so happy with Ava’s training that he surprised her with a hunting dog.
