Aaron Boone stubbornly refuses to make necessary roster changes ahead of Game 2

while New York Yankees and their fanbase can boast the most by far World Series Winning the series doesn’t make them any less desperate against the Los Angeles Dodgers in this year’s Fall Classic. After all, it has been 15 years since their last win and appearance (2009) and this is their only win since 2000.

After a heartbreaking Game 1 loss in Los Angeles Freddie FreemanYankees fans are looking to manager Aaron Boone to make the necessary adjustments to get the team back together and avoid falling behind in a 2-0 hole before the series heads to the Bronx.

Unfortunately, Boone seems too stubborn to make the one change that needs to be made with the Yankees roster and superstar Aaron Judge.

MLB’s Jon Heyman weighed in on this New York Post Boone needs to move Judge out of hole number 3 in the lineup, I turn it upside down with Giancarlos Stanton at the heart of order. As he noted, Boone almost certainly won’t, sending an unintended but necessary message to the presumptive AL MVP in the World Series — but it’s still the move to make.

Judge’s bad October continued Friday night, as the slugger went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts. But what was worse was that he struck out shortstop in the ninth inning with two outs after the Dodgers’ Juan Soto brought on two runners on a 2-2 lead. The judge found nothing, the game went to extras, and now the Yankees are down 1-0 in the World Series.

But this wasn’t a game where Judge and Stanton would overreact to a roster change. To this point, for the postseason, the Arbiter has a slash line of just .167/.304/.361, good for a meager .665 OPS. Sure, he has two home runs and a double, but that’s dwarfed by his 16 strikeouts so far in the playoffs.

Rather, it was Stanton who performed like a superstar in the playoffs. Following Game 1 of the World Series, the ALCS MVP has a 1.159 OPS with a .282/.364/.795 slash line with six homers, two doubles and 13 RBIs in 10 playoff games.

As the Yankees cruised through the AL Central to reach the postseason World Series, having Stanton and Soto provide the fireworks and cornerstones for the offense was good enough to warrant keeping Judge’s spot in the lineup safe. But this is not the AL Center (no offense). These LA Dodgers are a real-life superteam that can strike out like Freeman did at any time and at any point in the lineup in the bottom of the 10th inning.

In such a situation, having an Umpire struggling behind Soto puts the Yankees at a disadvantage; They cannot afford to do so because the margin of error is significantly reduced.

Again, this is not a move Aaron Boone would make. But if the umpire’s postseason woes worsen in Game 2, perhaps a break and some time to think about it could be enough to give the Yankees manager a much-needed change of heart.
