Man arrested for going 118 MPH on I-84 in Willington

WILLINGTON, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested for going 188 MPH on I-84 in Willington Saturday morning.

Around 7:21 a.m., a trooper passed a blue Hyundai Elantra with New York license plates while patrolling eastbound I-84 near exit 69 in Tolland, state police said.

The trooper began speeding up to catch the operator, identified as 33-year-old Aaron Terron of Brooklyn, New York. Using the speedometer, he was found to be traveling between 113-118 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.

The trooper then turned on his lights and Terron was pulled onto the right shoulder and taken into custody.

When asked why he was traveling at high speed, he said he was going to Salem, Massachusetts, for Halloween celebrations.

Terron is charged with reckless driving. He was later released on $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 13.
