The Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) today (October 26) arrested two police officers in connection with a case filed in the murder of housewife Amena Begum, whose body was found on a hillside in Chattogram’s Anwara upazila on October 1.

“Detainees Naveed and Irfan were arrested after a 72-hour operation in various areas of Chattogram and the mountainous areas of Khagrachari and Baghaichari,” Chattogram District PBI Inspector Sheikh Zainuddin said at a press conference. he said.

“Amena’s husband, Arafat, who is believed to be the mastermind, remains at large.

“Arafat recently married another woman without informing Amena. Amena reportedly threatened to expose him. In response, Arafat, along with his friends, police officers Irfan and Naveed, conspired to kill her,” Zainuddin said.

The officer further said: “Amena was fatally stabbed in an abandoned brick kiln near the China Economic Zone in Boirag union on the night of October 1. His body was found two days later, partially decomposed after local wildlife disturbed the remains. Crime scene investigators later He identified the body.”

“Both İrfan and Naveed confessed their crimes in court. After their statements, the court sent them to prison.”
