Grand Forks Culver to host Honor Flight fundraiser – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – Culver’s restaurant will donate a portion of its sales to the North Dakota/Minnesota Veterans Honor Flight on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Honor Flights are organized for the sole purpose of taking veterans, their caregivers, and volunteers, including medical and other health professionals, on a three-day, all-expenses-paid trip to visit war memorials and other historic sites in Washington, DC.

Don Roberts of Grand Forks said two Honor Flights are expected to depart from Grand Forks on Easter Sunday morning next spring. He and his wife, Betty, are very active in organizing fundraisers in this area.

at Culver’s event, 3451 32nd Ave. Funds will also be raised through the sale of raffle tickets for the quilt, as well as hats and other items at the Honor Flight table in the restaurant’s lobby at S.

Volunteers will also sell kitchen stoves and machine-washable Swiffer floor mop covers donated by University Lutheran Church members.

Roberts said the quilt to be raffled off was one of about a half-dozen quilts donated by Sandi Brantl of Minnesota Warroad.

The quilt will be displayed at a Culver’s fundraiser next week. Stitched with a patriotic theme, it measures about 66 inches by 78 inches, Betty Roberts said. The drawing for the quilt will likely take place after Veterans Day and the winner will be contacted by phone.

Don Roberts said proceeds from past raffles for Brantl’s quilts made it possible for two veterans to go on the Honor Flight.

Honor Flight applications are accepted from World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans, as well as terminally ill veterans. Priority is given to World War I veterans and terminally ill veterans.

The application is available at:
