It is possible to record high temperatures this weekend

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Welcome to the weekend! Record temperatures are once again possible today and tomorrow, ahead of slightly cooler temperatures next week. A trough and an associated front will approach our region on Sunday night and Monday. This front will not be strong enough to let in colder air. But it will only lower our temperatures by a few degrees. Highs will drop from the upper 80s to the mid and lower 80s next week.

Looking at the Halloween forecast, afternoon temperatures appear to remain in the 80s. The evening should still be pleasant, but the wind shifting from the south will bring some more humid air to our area.

The afternoon will be sunny and warm across much of our region, with highs around 90°. Temperatures along the coast will be in the mid to lower 80s. The risk of rip currents is low today. The forecast will remain the same on Sunday and another hot day is expected.

Overnight temperatures on both Saturday night and Sunday night will drop into the upper 50s inland and the low to mid-60s on the coast.

NEXT WEEK:

Despite the slight decrease in temperatures as we enter Monday, we expect temperatures above average to continue. This front will drop temperatures a few degrees next week. Highs will be in the low 80s. Morning lows will remain fairly mild around 60°. Later in the week, more moisture enters the picture, causing it to feel less crisp and cool each morning. We will also see a change in wind direction and an increase in the risk of rip currents around the middle of next week.

TROPICS:

At this point, the Atlantic basin is calm and no developments are expected in the near term. However, towards the end of the month we will begin to monitor the Caribbean Sea for development. It’s too early to sort out the details. We’ll let you know if there’s anything to watch.
