Cherokee Co. off-duty deputy killed in ATV accident Saturday morning

CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The coroner’s office says a Cherokee County deputy died in an off-duty all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash Saturday morning.

The coroner reported that Brandon Tyler Parker, 28, of Gaffney, was driving a 2023 Honda Pioneer 1000 southbound on Pondfield Road at 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The coroner said Parker was speeding without wearing his seatbelt and lost control of the ATV, flying off to the right side of the road.

According to the coroner, the ATV went airborne and crashed into several trees, with Parker being thrown from the vehicle on impact.

The coroner said Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
