Chester County, PA – On Wednesday, the East Coventry Police Department along with Chester County Detectives handled a murder-suicide case at Manatawny Manor Nursing Home. Authorities responded following a 9-1-1 call reporting shots heard at the facility.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found an 89-year-old woman dead and a 90-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The firearm was at the scene. The injured man, identified as the husband of the dead woman, was taken to Reading Hospital but could not be saved.

It was stated that there were no injuries other than the two people involved in the incident. Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public or nursing home residents.
