The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees with a dramatic 4-3 overtime win.

The Dodgers jump to a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-7 Fall Classic. Two of MLB’s powerhouses will face off again for Game 2 on Saturday, October 26, also at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers captured the National League pennant after defeating the New York Mets in six games in the championship series. Before that, the Dodgers had defeated their western division rivals, the San Diego Padres, in a winner-take-all Game 5 of the NLDS.

The Boys in Blue captured home-field advantage in the postseason, including the World Series, after finishing the 2024 regular season with a score of 98-64.

The Yankees became American League champions after defeating the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the championship series. Before the ALCS, the Bronx Bombers defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in the best-of-5 series.

The Yankees are on track to start the Fall Classic after finishing second behind the Dodgers with an overall regular season record of 94-68.
