How to Get the “In the Water” Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake?

As with the original game, there are subtle choices the player makes during the game that will be added to a secret tally that runs in the background to see which of the 3 core games you’ve unlocked. Each of these actions reflects the theme of their ending. This means that in order to make it easier to achieve the ending you want, you must also do your best to avoid actions that will push you towards other endings.

To enter the water, you must perform actions that show that James feels deep remorse for what he did to Mary, while also having little incentive to continue living without her. You’ll also want to make sure you interact with specific notes that discuss death. Some of the things you need to do for this ending have some overlap with the “Leaving” Ending, so while I’ll cover the things that push you towards Suda, I’ll be sure to talk about the things that work towards the other endings as well. so you can make sure you focus on the things that bring you closer to that end.

Here’s a breakdown of things you can do to help you achieve the Aquatic Ending:

• Keep James’ health low. This might make the game a little more challenging, but keeping James in an injured state will convey to the game that he has low perversion.
• Kill lots of enemies.
• Examine both Mary’s Photograph and Mary’s Letter multiple times to show that James still thinks deeply about her. This will also work towards Ending Separation.
• Finally Blame the Man Wooden Side Circles Money Cabinet Puzzle.
• Talk to Angela as much as you can.
• When you get Angela’s Knife from Blue Creeks Apartments, be sure to inspect the item a few times.
• Avoid spending time with Maria. Pass the levels with him and try to stay on the critical path. Don’t engage in discretionary conversations or do anything that might indicate that James has affection for her. This won’t help you progress towards In Water, but it will keep you away from the “Maria” Ending.
• Read the “Page from a Diary” note on the roof of Brookhaven Hospital and the bloody inscription on the Jukebox in the Otherworld version of Neely’s Bar.
• There are two moments towards the end of the play where items represent Maria and Mary. Used Ripe and Rotten Apples Lakeview Hotel Mirror Puzzle and the Red and Rusty Egg found after being defeated. Double Pyramid Head Boss Fight. Since Mary is sick, she is represented by Rotten and Rusty items, so use these items. This will also work towards Ending Separation.
• Listen to a recording of Mary’s Doctor in the Nurse’s Office at the Otherworld Lakeview Hotel. This will also work towards Ending Separation.
• Listen to Mary’s dialogue until the end as the two walk down the long corridor after the Pyramid Head battle. This will also work towards Ending Separation.
• Once the truth is revealed, the enemies of the Otherworld Lakeview Hotel will weaken and cease to be a threat to James. Kill them anyway.

Do all this and after defeating you will get the Water Ending. Final Boss Fight. Ashamed of what he did to Mary, James drives towards Toluca Lake.
