Worship leader accused of having sexual intercourse with a teenager in Florida

A worship leader is behind bars following a three-month investigation in which he was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

Jeremiah Paul Grover, worship leader at Elevate Life Church in Oakleaf Plantation, was allegedly having an affair with a 16-year-old boy, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The sheriff’s office said the teen was also a member of the man’s church.

Detectives with CCSO, along with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, began an investigation into Grover in June following allegations of “criminal sexual activity” between March and June, deputies said.

Deputies allege Grover, 32, would travel through both Clay and Duval counties to commit a sex crime with the minor.

The sheriff’s office said the incident appeared to be isolated and that it does not believe there were any other victims.

Clay County Jail records show Grover was arrested Thursday and faces charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, traveling to meet a minor, lewd and lascivious touching, use of a two-way communication device and transmitting harmful material to a minor . Deputies say his bond was set at $325,015.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. (904) 264-6512. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at: (866) 845-TIPS.
