Almost a year has passed since then Matthew Perry‘s untimely death and his family is finally ready to talk about it.

In a new interview with TodayPerry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, describes her final conversations with her son. The full interview will be published on Monday, October 28. Perry’s deathhowever, the show aired an early sneak peek of Morrison’s conversation with Savannah Guthrie ahead of the weekend.

“He went through an interesting time when he was showing me one of his new homes just before he died,” Morrison said. “He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now.’ It was like a premonition or something. I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought: ‘How long has it been since we had a conversation like this?’ “It’s been years.”

Perry struggled with drug addiction in adulthood but was sober for more than a year before dying of a ketamine overdose. Looking back at his recent speeches, Morrison now sees signs.

“There was an inevitability to what was going to happen soon, and he felt that very strongly,” Morrison said. “But he said, ‘I’m not afraid anymore,’ and that worried me.”

Perry was the son of Morrison and her ex-husband, John Bennett Perry. Morrison later remarried date line She had four other children with reporter Keith Morrison.
