DEXTER, Iowa (WOWT) – An Omaha woman was shot and killed while walking on the shoulder of I-80 in Iowa Thursday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol said the incident occurred around 7 a.m. in Madison County near Dexter, Iowa.

The report states that 45-year-old Mandy Wendland was with someone else when she entered the westbound sidewalk.

The Iowa State Patrol said he was struck by a 2020 Ford Transit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report states that the driver stopped after hitting Wendland.
