The Nevada Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash involving a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 11 and Boulder Highway early Friday morning.

According to the police, two vehicles were involved in the accident that occurred around 2:52 a.m.; one of which was traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes before the collision.

Police said an adult female occupant of the wrong-way vehicle was confirmed dead at the scene.

Many people were transported by ambulance to a hospital in the region.

All access roads were closed while police investigated. The northbound westbound SR582 ramp was also closed, according to police.

Officials said the area will be closed for several hours while police investigate.
