The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Riverview.

Dispatchers received a call around 2 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot on U.S. Highway 301 at the intersection with Bloomingdale Boulevard, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrived and found a man with upper body trauma. The man was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries. Authorities did not release the man’s name.

Detectives said the attacker left the area after the incident. No information about a possible suspect has been released.

“There is never any excuse for an argument to end in violence,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the news release. “Our detectives are fully committed to this investigation and we will ensure justice is served for the victim.”
