White House defends Ukraine’s use of ATACM

Ukraine did just that by launching US-supplied medium-range missiles, also known as ATACMS, at Russian military targets late Tuesday night. Russia responded by hitting Ukraine with an “experimental” ballistic missile.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre He was asked several questions on the matter at Thursday’s press conference, but he repeatedly declined to elaborate on Biden’s decision.

Jean-Pierre pointed to a “major escalation” by Russia after adding thousands of North Korean troops to the front lines in Ukraine.

“This makes a significant change and we warned the Russians before doing this,” he said.

“At every opportunity, at every step, the escalation comes from Russia. They are the ones who escalate this,” Jean-Pierre continued. “They are the ones who started this war. “It’s because of their aggression.”
