2 deputies dead, 1 critical after SUV crashes in Palm Beach County – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Two Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies were killed after being struck by a vehicle near Loxahatchee, while a third deputy was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

According to PBSO officials, the incident occurred Thursday morning in the 18000 block of Southern Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office said three deputies were struck by an SUV while riding department-issued motorcycles.

7Skyforce flew over the scene where three motorcycles and an SUV were badly damaged.

Paramedics took all three victims to a nearby hospital, where two were pronounced dead.

Video taken from a car camera shows three deputies standing on the side of the road before being hit.

Investigators did not identify the deputies.

They said the driver was a woman. His identity was not released, but authorities said he was not under the influence.

PBSO posted two social media videos showing the procession of caskets carrying the bodies of the two deceased deputies to the coroner’s office.

Witness Kevin Elm watched this solemn journey.

“All the cops and sheriffs are coming. “Just like the soldiers, we only worry about our fallen comrades,” he said.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear.

No arrests were made.

Florida Highway Patrol then took over the investigation. No fees are expected.

PBSO is scheduled to provide an update on the incident at 4 p.m.

The road on Southern Avenue is still closed.
