Man Arrested After High Speed Pursuit with Warsaw Officers – InkFreeNews.com

Staff Report

Rickkie Dominique Carr

WARSAW — A man was recently arrested after leading Warsaw police officers on a high-speed vehicle chase while driving a stolen vehicle.

Rickkie Dominique Carr, 30, Gary, charged with auto theft and resisting law enforcement; both level 6 felonies; and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.

On November 16, a Warsaw Police officer received information about a stolen Dodge Grand Caravan traveling west on US 30 from SR 13. The officer located the vehicle driven by Carr.

When the officer tried to pull over, the vehicle slowed down and then accelerated, according to court documents. A pursuit ensued, with Carr ignoring a stop sign, driving through gardens and fields, and traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle then took off slightly over a driveway, entered a field and began smoking heavily. Carr jumped from the vehicle while it was in motion and fled on foot. Officers detained Carr and noticed the vehicle’s ignition was off.

Carr told officers he was on parole, borrowed the vehicle from a friend and drove it to Ohio. He said he was running from the police because he violated his parole and his driver’s license was confiscated. Carr stated that he did not know that the vehicle was stolen, but that it did not surprise him.

Carr was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 16.
