Colorado cracks AP Top 25 for first time in almost 400 days

Following the school’s 11-point victory over Cincinnati in Colorado on Saturday. Won 23rd place in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.

For the Buffaloes, this is the team’s first appearance in the AP Top 25. Since the fourth match of the 2023 season This past September, when they entered an away contest against a top-seeded Oregon team with a 3-0 record.

Colorado suffered a demoralizing 42-6 loss in its game against the Ducks, which caused the Buffaloes to fall out of the AP Top 25 entirely the day after the contest took place.

This season, Colorado returns to the main poll with a respectable 6-2 record after a convincing win over Cincinnati on Saturday. The win was the Buffaloes’ fifth in their last six games, with the school’s only loss in that stretch coming two weeks ago, on Oct. 12, when No. 17 Kansas State defeated them by a final score of 31-28.

During Colorado’s victory over the Bearcats on Saturday, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed 83.3 percent of his passes for 323 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Sanders also entered the game, scoring a four-yard field goal on the final play of the first quarter of the game.

Added Colorado’s Travis Hunter Heisman Trophy resume He had nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns when he lined up on the offensive side of the ball on Saturday, and two interceptions and four pass breakups during his moments on defense.

Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders after the win I delivered a message To those who voted in college football’s two major polls (AP Top 25 and AFCA Coaches Poll).

“We don’t even want to be in line,” Deion said. “Please don’t classify us. We don’t like it. We’d rather be in the back, in the dark, resting in between. We’re nice, we’re calm, we’re straight. So don’t feel pressured to rank us.”

Since Colorado failed to garner enough votes to place in the top 25 in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll, Deion got his wish with one of the polls. But AP Top 25 voters ignored Deion’s request when submitting their latest submissions.

The Buffaloes’ next opportunity to move even higher this season will come on Nov. 9 when they travel to face an unranked 5-3 Texas Tech team.
