MILWAUKEE – A Milwaukee man accused of driving with a revoked license when he was involved in a fatal crash in Milwaukee last May has pleaded guilty to the charge.

In court on Thursday, October 24, Alvin Dickerson, 22, pleaded guilty to the felony charge of Knowingly Operating Without a Valid License, Causing Death.

He was later sentenced to two and a half years in prison and an additional two years of extended supervision with 162 days in jail.

Kimberly Robbins, 31, died in the accident that occurred on May 15 near 95th Street and Brown Deer.

Robbins was pronounced dead at the scene. The criminal complaint stated that the white Jeep hit a tree, rolled over and fell on the fence. A white Nissan was also involved in the accident.

Investigators identified the driver of the Nissan as Dickerson, according to the complaint. He left the scene before police arrived.

Surveillance video from a nearby school showed Robbins and Dickerson’s respective vehicles speeding west on Brown Deer Road, according to the complaint. Robbins attempted to swerve into Dickerson’s lane, where the two vehicles collided. As Robbins’ vehicle left the roadway, Dickerson’s vehicle slowed to a stop.

Dickerson was taken into custody later that night. He admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license but claimed he did not know his privileges had been revoked, the complaint said. As for the accident itself, he said he remembered the white Jeep speeding and changing lanes before the accident, but he thought he lost consciousness for about a minute.

Dickerson also told police the fire department responded to the scene and he left. He said police did not respond for about an hour after the crash.
