OPD: Man arrested for shooting injured woman Tuesday night

A 20-year-old Owensboro man is facing several charges in a shooting that injured a woman Tuesday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to OPDofficers responded to the 900 block of East 5th Street for a report of a shooting in which an adult female was struck by a bullet at a residence in the area.

The victim was transported to Owensboro Regional Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to OPD.

According to the statement, information gathered at the scene led officers to identify the possible suspect and the vehicle associated with the incident. Detectives located the suspect vehicle at a residence on Westerfield Drive.

Initial attempts by officers at the scene to contact residents of the home resulted in some residents exiting the residence, but the suspect remained inside, according to OPD.

“Given the use of a deadly weapon, the Owensboro Police Department activated its emergency response team and hostage negotiation team to assist. According to OPD, upon the arrival of these special units, another suspect exited and a search warrant was obtained where the suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without further incident.”

At the end of the investigation, detectives determined that the suspect responsible for the incident was Scott Kenady.

According to OPD, Kenady was arrested and booked into the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:

• Assault, 2nd Degree

• Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree – 2 counts

• Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree

• Tampering with Physical Evidence
