A woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident near the gates of a high school in the city.

Bedfordshire Police said they were called to Icknield High School in Luton at 8.10am to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police confirmed the victim was taken to hospital with serious and possibly life-changing injuries.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get in touch and asked people not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.
