Are the Raiders Approaching a Dream Draft Scenario?

The Las Vegas Raiders’ 2024 season will likely be one they want to forget.

At 2-8, they were all eliminated from the play-off race. They may increasingly look to the 2025 NFL Draft. Hopes are increasing in this area. New minority owner Tom Brady will be vocal about how the Silver and Black approach acquiring a new quarterback.

This alone is huge. The Raiders took chances on Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, and even Desmond Ridder. The draft will probably contain the answer. Right now the Raiders are approaching a dream scenario; No. 1 overall pick.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (at 2-9) are the top seed, according to NFL.com’s Chad Reuter. Competing for the No. 1 spot are the 2-8 Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and Raiders. The Raiders are currently ranked No. 4, which could still land them some top-tier quarterback talent.

“The Raiders’ six-game losing streak doesn’t mean the team will stick with Gardner Minshew as QB1 in 2025, even if the offense continues to perform better under interim coordinator Scott Turner, as it did on Sunday,” Reuter said. wrote. “A combination of Minshew, Aidan O’Connell and Desmond Ridder could be back next season, but as a mentor to one of the draft’s best signal-caller prospects.”

Things don’t get any easier for the Raiders as they face a Denver Broncos team that blew them away earlier this season. Then there are the Kansas City Chiefs. They will also face the lower-seeded Jaguars, which could be a battle for the No. 1 overall seed.
