MSP says Harrison was shot dead while walking down the road

ROSCOMMON CO., Michigan (WNEM) – A Harrison man died after being struck by a vehicle in Roscommon County, according to Michigan State Police.

MSP troopers were dispatched to Mead Road near the US-127 overpass in Lake Township on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 5:43 p.m., for a report of a man lying in the roadway.

MSP said when they arrived on scene, troopers found a 54-year-old Harrison man dead and lying in the roadway.

MSP said preliminary investigation shows the man walking westbound on the shoulder of Mead Road recently was struck by a vehicle and left the scene.

Shortly after the investigation began, MSP said troopers saw a pickup truck driver approaching the scene.

Based on evidence collected at the scene, the driver was believed to be the person who hit Harrison, according to MSP.

MSP said the driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Houghton Lake man, cooperated with law enforcement and consented to a voluntary blood draw at an area hospital.

The investigation continues.
