Ja’Marr Chase blames Bengals coach Zac Taylor after final loss to Chargers: ‘I’m not calling a play’

As the Cincinnati Bengals lost 27-6 to the Los Angeles Chargers in the third quarter, things suddenly started to change. The Bengals fought back and even tied in the fourth quarter, but fell behind when JK Dobbins scored a touchdown pass with 18 seconds left.

After the game, star receiver Ja’Marr Chase was asked about another frustrating loss as Cincinnati moved to 4-7 on the season. Chase had a great game, finishing with 75 yards and two touchdowns on seven receptions. He wasn’t the reason the team lost, but was a big part of the impressive comeback. However, he was not happy with the team’s performance.

Here’s what Chase had to say after another Bengals loss:

What did Ja’Marr Chase say about Zac Taylor?

When asked about the Bengals struggling to close out games, Chase gave a shout-out to the coaching staff and Zac Taylor.

“Ask Zac. Ask the coaches. Don’t ask me, it’s not much of a job. I play football on the field, I can’t call it a game for us.”

Taylor finds himself in a difficult situation as the team struggles in 2024.

Joe Burrow was also asked about the team’s challenge in 2024. Never one to throw anyone under the bus, Burrow said this has been the most frustrating year he’s ever experienced in football. Chase agreed.

Burrow, like Chase, was not responsible for the defeat. Despite taking hits all game long, including three sacks, Burrow finished with 356 yards and three touchdowns.

At 4-7, the Bengals need to bounce back if they hope to make the postseason. If they can’t do this soon, Taylor could soon be out of a job.
