JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Authorities in Jackson County released limited details Sunday evening about what they say is a suspected homicide.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office released a statement around 7 p.m. saying deputies were called to a home around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The statement stated that when deputies arrived at the house, they found a person dead and suspected murder. A person of interest is reportedly in custody and was being questioned by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigators at the time the statement was published.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the State Attorney’s Office for the 14th Judicial Circuit are reportedly assisting in the investigation.

JCSO officials said they will release more information as the investigation continues.
