According to arrest affidavits, Scott County deputies say shortly before 6:15 p.m. Friday, Hollingshed punched the victim multiple times with a closed fist until he lost consciousness outside an apartment complex and the victim was dragged to a location against her will. Apartment where the victim remained in the bathroom and was unable to call 911.

Deputies said in their affidavit that Hollingshed “interfered with the investigation” by telling uniformed deputies when asked about the victim’s whereabouts that the victim was not at the residence and was staying with someone else.

“During his conversation with the victim (Hollingshed), he emerged from the bathroom with a bloody/swollen face,” deputies say in their affidavit. “The serious injuries the victim sustained included a broken nose, a broken jaw, a fractured eye socket and a possible brain hemorrhage.”

According to testimony, the victim believed he was going to be killed by Hollingshed.

Hollingshed, who was held Saturday in the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond, has a preliminary hearing Nov. 26 in Scott County Court.

First-degree kidnapping is a Class A crime in Iowa, where it is punishable by a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or probation.
