RCMP: Eight-year-old girl among two people killed in crash

An eight-year-old girl has died after suffering life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash in southern Manitoba.

According to RCMP, the crash happened at the intersection of provincial routes 201 and 306 around 7 p.m. on Friday.

An investigation found that a 25-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario. He was driving a semitrailer eastbound on State Route 201. RCMP say the driver failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 306.

RCMP say the truck entered the intersection and collided with an SUV traveling southbound.

The car was driven by a 35-year-old woman from Rhineland RM. While the driver died at the scene, his 8-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died.

The 25-year-old truck driver was also hospitalized. The injured person was treated and the man was released.

RCMP say charges are expected in this case and the investigation is ongoing.
