Seven persons, including two Indian citizens, were detained by Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) members from a speedboat at Barkal Launch ghat in Rangamati district.

Lieutenant Colonel Masud Al Ferdous, Director of Barkal BGB-45 Battalion, said that upon tip-off, a team of BGB-45 organized a speedboat trip from Choto Harina district to Rangamati at around 16:30 on Friday and arrested them.

The two Indian citizens were identified as 39-year-old Suresh Chyakma, son of Anjan Kumar Chakma, and 30-year-old Arongkhan Chakma, son of Indian Jalanta Kumar Chakma.

They entered Bangladesh from Thegamukh district without valid documents.

BGB members also seized a mobile phone and a mobile phone worth Rs 2.69 lakh from their possession.
