Jake Paul beats Mike Tyson, 58, as Hitler doesn’t live up to the hype

ARLINGTON, Texas – Jake Paul won a unanimous decision over Mike Tyson because the results of Friday night’s fight between a young YouTuber-turned-boxer and the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion did not live up to the hype.

All the hatred that had built up before the fight had disappeared; Paul even stopped to pay tribute to Tyson before the final buzzer at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

The fight wasn’t very close according to the referee’s cards; one gave Paul an 80-72 lead and the other two gave him a 79-73 lead.

Tyson went after Paul immediately after the opening bell and landed a few quick punches but didn’t try much else the rest of the way.

Fewer rounds and even shorter rounds couldn’t do much to create action for the 58-year-old in his first sanctioned professional fight in almost 20 years, facing a boxing rookie with hopes of fighting for titles somewhere in the future.

Paul was more aggressive after Tyson’s rapid exit in the opening seconds, but his punches were not very effective. There were quite a few wild swings and misses.

With a few exceptions, Tyson mostly sat back and waited for Paul to come to him. The co-main event, another slugfest that saw Katie Taylor retain her undisputed super flyweight title with a decision over Amanda Serrano, was quite the contract.

This was Tyson’s first sanctioned fight since 2005. Paul started fighting a little over four years ago.
