Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2: Money Lessons from the arena of power and revenge

Bollywood has been doing this for years, so why wouldn’t Ridley Scott bring the Gladiator’s son back into the arena for revenge? Southern movies show political machinations full of chopping off people’s arms and legs and preventing violence; So why not see Roman blood and brutality?

In this chapter of the Roman epic, Lucius, son of Maximus, enters the arena as a gladiator and lays the foundations of Rome as his grandfather and father dreamed of it – a city that would help bring about dreams for all its people – by fighting twin evil emperors and evil emperors. The machinations of a slave trader named Macrinus. While the same violent fights take place in and around the Colosseum, of course, the ghost of Maximus will haunt you, the audience.

What lessons can you learn from this saga of blood and war?

‘My grandfather and father died for this dream… the Roman dream’

The King of Numidia (wonderfully played by Peter Mensah) chooses to die rather than become a slave to Rome after his kingdom in African Nova falls to General Acacius (the incomparable Pedro Pascal).

General Marcus Acacius wages war for Rome and its twin evil emperors and is bothered by nothing but spending time at home with his wife Lucilla (Connie Nelson, once married to Maximus). And to realize this dream, he planned an uprising with his army waiting just outside Rome.

Once married to Maximus (the great Gladiator from the first film), Lucilla allowed her son to escape the dangers of political consequences when his father, once the Roman Emperor and Maximus, was murdered. He too dreams of a peaceful Rome, and towards that dream he has loyal Senators ready to aid Acacius and armed rebellion.

Macrinus, a slave trader who trains gladiators, dreams of ruling the Rome that enslaved him.

‘I adopted it. ‘I will control an empire from now on’

Love him or hate him, Macrinus – the slave owner who turns them into winning gladiators – played wonderfully by Denzel Washington, is also involved in politics because he, too, was rejected by Rome. Macrinus knows how and when to stab politicians to get what he wants, and he does not hesitate to commit murder by suggestion. He is a perfect person who plays for money and will not give up anything.

But when you invest You know that the secret games people play with your hard-earned money do not help build an inheritance. So choose wisely. Get inspired by high net worth individuals and follow their investment strategies.

Ultra-high net worth individuals understand the importance of savings, the basics of investing, and, yes, how to take calculated risks. It’s easy to defend your portfolio, but is there a way to invest in emerging markets? Don’t get into the comparison game, it’s self-defeating. There is no point in saying my neighbor bought an Audi, I should at least buy a Mercedes. Instead, focus on your goals and dreams. And yes, continue to rebalance your portfolio frequently with the right mix of stocks and bonds. Also, instead of focusing only on market opportunities, be careful and invest in specific market opportunity. IPOs.

Aside from the abundance of severed limbs and sword fights that will leave you gagging over your black coffee, Gladiator 2 has two major weaknesses: despite the giant raccoon-eyed evil emperors, the story is a rehash of the original. And the hero doesn’t inspire me to raise my fist and fight for Rome. ‘There is no death where we are. And where death is, we are not’ or such dialogue seems to have been written by an evil AI rather than seriously inspired. As bodies fall around them, I say: ‘Meri toh deth hee ho gayi!’
