Haryana Department of Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa today ordered the suspension of three PWD officials – Executive Engineer (XEN) Rajnish Kumar, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Dalbir Singh Rathi and Junior Engineer (JE) Suresh Kumar – for alleged negligence. During the construction of the road from Dhiktana village to Dhansu village in Hisar district.

The minister went to the region after complaints from the villagers that poor quality materials were used in the construction of the 5.4 km road connecting the two villages. The road was completed 15 days ago.

When the minister got out of his car, he saw that the upper surface of the road was starting to peel off as a result of the friction of his shoes. Upset by the poor quality work, the minister called PWD officials.

He said that in his meeting with department officials in Chandigarh, he made it clear that the quality of work would not be compromised.

Gangwa instructed Chief Engineer Ajit Singh to get the material used in construction of the road checked and take strict action against the agency allocating the work.

“All work must be completed within the stipulated time, with quality materials, in strict accordance with specifications. “Any negligence in the quality of construction work will not be tolerated,” he said.

In addition to ordering the three officials responsible for the work to be suspended from duty, the Minister also ordered an investigation.
