KY 502 Bridge project completed after being closed for two years

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) – Today, KY 502 (Coiltown Road) in Hopkins County reopened.

The road was closed in the spring of 2022 due to advanced deterioration of wooden pilings on three bridges that cross the Clear Creek Watershed, according to the press release.

The Haydon Bridge Company demolished the old bridges built in 1959. They built three modern bridges that crossed nearly a half-mile of wetland in rural Hopkins County.

Coiltown Road connects US 41A and KY 109, connecting Nebo to the West Hopkins area of the county.

As of 2019, approximately 300 vehicles use the highway every day.
