Jim Carrey’s older sister Rita has passed away.

The death of the 62-year-old ‘Mask’ actor’s radio host and singer-songwriter’s brother, believed to be 68, was announced by his long-term girlfriend Alex on Friday (15.11.24). 16 years before he married her in 2023.

His death comes after ‘Ace Ventura’ star Jim lost his brother John Carrey in 2019, at the age of 60, due to a blood condition called aplastic anemia.

Alex said in a Facebook post about his late wife, which did not detail the cause of death: “It is with deep sadness and sadness that Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.”

“Rita and I (Alex) have been together for 16 years and got married in July last year in an outdoor wedding that she had always wanted.

“We have traveled the world and met many people we consider friends. Rita was my best friend, my lover and my beautiful wife.

“Rita always had a loving spirit and wanted to help even people she didn’t know.

“As everyone knows, Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday, in fact it was every day for her, and she started a fundraiser to help a local charity.”

Alex added that family and friends have been invited to a candlelight vigil in Rita’s memory at a church called St Catharine’s in Heathcote Terrace on December 7.

He said: “Following the vigil, everyone is encouraged to attend the Christmas on the Terrace public event in support of Gillian’s place.

“Donations in Rita’s memory can be made directly to Gillian’s home, or non-perishable food, children’s clothing, toiletries or unwrapped children’s gifts are encouraged during the event.

“It was an amazing and crazy journey with Rita. She filled everyone’s hearts with joy every step of the way and I will never forget this beautiful and incredibly talented woman.

Quoting part of James Blunt’s ‘Goodbye My Lover’, Alex added: “Goodbye my love, Goodbye my friend, Until we meet again, You truly had the time of your life.

“Your best friend and your husband.”

Alex signed her message with three red heart emojis.
