DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – 2 young people who allegedly broke into vehicles and stole firearms were arrested.

Decatur Police officials said multiple Decatur citizens have reported vehicle break-ins where firearms were reported stolen.

Decatur Police Property Crimes Division teams launched an investigation.

During the investigation, two juveniles were taken into custody as suspects with the assistance of the School Resource Officer Unit.

Two search warrants were executed at homes in Decatur. Stolen weapons were seized during the searches.

Both teens were charged with certain counts of being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm and two counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle.

Both teens were transported to child welfare facilities.
