Pa. Republican Party says it received bomb threats and closed its Montgomery County headquarters

The Pennsylvania Republican Party said it received a bomb threat Saturday, forcing it to close its Montgomery County Committee Headquarters.

The GOP reported that staff received a call around 11 a.m. claiming the caller had delivered an angry, profanity-laden bomb threat.

The party made the following statement in its press release to the media:

Today’s incident is one of two attempted assassinations of President Donald Trump, as well as a growing number of threats, violence and acts of intimidation against GOP candidates, offices and staff.

“Nothing will stop us from working to elect people who will get our country back on track,” said President Lawrence Tabas. “And especially after the death of an innocent husband and father in Butler County due to political violence, there must be unanimous agreement that political violence has no place in our elections. “We urge Pennsylvanians to voice their opinions by voting, not through violence and intimidation.”
