House fire leads deputies to find ghost gun parts

BUTTERNUTS, N.Y. (WBNG) — A Gilbertsville man was arrested after deputies found ghost guns and ghost gun parts in a burning house.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 35-year-old Jacob Snook. He faces 30 weapons-related charges.

Snook’s arrest came after emergency crews responded to a house fire in Butternuts Township, New York.

The office said an investigation revealed a Glock-style ghost gun was found in Snook’s home.

Additional information obtained during the investigation was then sent to investigators and they were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.

Deputies learned Snook used two 3D printers to produce ghost guns, the office said. Deputies found numerous incomplete rifle and pistol parts, as well as 17 loaded high-capacity magazines and drum magazines. They also found tactical equipment and ammunition.

Snook was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Otsego County Department of Corrections.

The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended bail be set at $10,000 cash, $10,000 credit or $100,000 surety bond.
