Blackburn Rovers defender Tom Atcheson has signed a new four-year contract at Ewood Park with an option for a further 12 months.

He became Rovers’ fourth-youngest player to feature for the first team, aged 16 years and 343 days, in last season’s 8-0 Carabao Cup win at Harrogate.

The 18-year-old also featured in Blackburn’s FA Cup fourth round victory over Wrexham last season but is yet to make a league appearance.

Northern Ireland Under-19 international Atcheson is currently on loan at National League North side Marine.
